Food has always been her love language

Our Recipe

For Eko Café’s founder, Wonuola, cooking has been a way of connecting with people since childhood. She loved making food for friends and family and seeing their faces light up as they tasted it.

She hadn’t imagined building a catering business. She simply knew how much she enjoyed feeding people.
That love started Eko Café, and it’s still at the heart of the business today.
Our Story

From her kitchen to your celebrations

At university

She started cooking for others at university, later building Eko Café alongside her career in corporate banking. There were evenings in her home kitchen after work and weekends spent preparing orders, making room for something she loved alongside a demanding full-time job.

Word Spread

People came back, told their friends and trusted her with their celebrations. Gradually, those early orders grew into catering for weddings, family gatherings and corporate events.

During Covid

During Covid, small chops platters and food trays became a way for clients to reach their loved ones. Each care package carried a message: happy birthday, thinking of you, wish we could be together.

2020

In 2020, Eko Café moved into its first commercial facility. She still pauses to take in how far those beginnings have taken her and the opportunities they’ve created for her team.
Behind The Menu

The care behind every dish

She cares deeply about what goes into your food. Every dish on the menu reflects hours of testing, an appreciation for quality ingredients and the pleasure she finds in creating something from scratch.

She loves building flavour, getting the texture right and making a plate look as inviting as it tastes. But her favourite part comes afterwards: seeing people settle around a table, reach for another helping and stay a little longer.
A note from Wonuola

A business built on relationships

“For me, looking after you starts with listening — understanding what you enjoy, what matters to you and how you want your occasion to feel.

It means a great deal when our clients return for another celebration, introduce us to family or trust us with their big day. Becoming a small part of those moments is something I never take for granted.

As Eko Café has grown beyond me, that personal attention to our clients has become a commitment we share as a team.

That same spirit led us to create Aaye Wa — meaning ‘Our Space’ in Yoruba. An extension of Eko Café, it gives us a place to welcome you for private dining, intimate celebrations and supper club experiences.

Together, Eko Café and Aaye Wa represent what I’ve always wanted to create: warmth, creativity and belonging through food. Whether we’re catering for your celebration or welcoming you into our space, I want you to feel what inspired it all — the joy of being fed well and looked after.
I’m grateful to everyone who has made room for us at their table.”
